In a profession, everything from documents to e-mails needs to be very professional and well written. Then, resume writing should also be taken very seriously as it is the first and important step in the job search. A resume for the executive post needs special attention. An executive comes under the managerial and a vital post in the company. He/she is responsible for taking very important decision and directing myriad activities for the development of the company. We have noticed and often seen in the job that a bad resume is rejected. So, why to take risk of being rejected when one is having so much proficiency and experience in the job.

Do’s

We will start from the header as the first thing you write in resume is name, city, address, contact number and e-mail address. So, it is important that it should be clear and correct.For the section of objective or profile. You are writing for the post of executive so only mentioning your purpose of seeking the job is not right. Mention your abilities and proficiency in the field. You can write a short summary for the profile.Use bold for highlighting the sections and bullets for focusing your responsibilities and achievements.Always select best quality of paper for writing a resume.Select an appealing format for resume; portraying the information clear and well-written.Use the font which is readable.Proof read your resume for 2-3 times for any typos or grammatical error.Always give exact “number” if you are mentioning in the achievement, responsibilities etc. For e.g.  “Led a team of 16 members” or “Raised the profit up to 67% …”

Don’ts

Don’t overload your resume with unnecessary information. It should not be more than 2 pages.Avoid pronouns like (I, my, me.)Don’t give false information. Especially while writing hobbies. It can affect your interview. Interviewer can ask questions on that.Never state the awards and achievements of school days.Don’t decorate the resume by using different fonts and colors.Don’t give personal details like: height, weight, marital status, religion.Don’t mention the salary provided by the present or previous company.Don’t reiterate the responsibilities and words in the resume.Don’t put amateurish e-mail address like: xyz_crazy@abc.com
