Artist Resume Tips


Writing an art resume and a typical job resume are two different tasks. It is always easier to keep softcopy of your resume on your computer so that you can easily change or perhaps update it. All cv's, whether it is an art resume or even a resume related to any other industry, should be clear and easy to learn.


Usually an art resume will be two to three pages in length. Most of the artists have two versions of their resumes, one site version and a long model. The resume should be correctly typed, readable and imprinted on a quality paper.

An art resume must include the pursuing.

Name and Contact Information

In this section, first you have to talk about your full name at the top of web page and it should be larger within font size than the remaining information presented in the cv. Then you need to write your sending address, email address, phone number, fax number and Website (when any).

Education

After supplying your personal information, list all the honors received and instructional degrees earned. Mention universities, colleges, and universities an individual attended. You can also list the extra classes or workshops you attended and the notable instructors or artists you have researched with.

Honors and Awards/Grants

Mention all your merits, prizes won by you, grants obtained, exhibitions held, competitions, scholarship grants, fellowships and other recognitions.

Bibliography

Under this category, mention all articles on your own work, television and radio stations interviews, reviews in magazines, books, catalogues and newspapers who have published your art work.

Shows

In the exhibition section, list the exhibitions you have made, with their details likes name, location, space etc. Also, you are able to divide this section into individual categories such as; group exhibits, solo shows, invitational exhibitions, exhibitions etc.

Collections

This section could be divided into corporate collections, exclusive collections and permanent public collections. Seek permissions before mentioning the name of the private owner of your work in the resume.

Professional Affiliations

Mention professional businesses, local, regional and countrywide to which you belong. For those who have served as a volunteer or perhaps held a position within the organization, then mention this information also.

Related Work Experience / Professional Experience

In this area, artists may write about the actual experiences that they feel are relevant to their profession and also making career. This may include:

* teaching art
* technical experience related to their artistic self-discipline
* jobs held in their area
* workshops, lectures and also presentations given by them being an artist.

Under this group, few artists also include good info that does not neatly fall into any of the other categories on their continue.
